Eco Friendly Play With Green Toys

Recently I've been taking small steps towards more eco friendly parenting, you can read my post on testing out planet friendlier nappies here. This weeks post is looking at eco friendly play.

Did you know that 90% of the toy market is made up of plastic toys? These toys often have a short lifespan and  mostly can not be recycled . They often come packed in endless cardboard, ties and plastics which add to our landfill.

I was determined to find an eco friendly toy brand and was delighted to discover Bigjigs Toys do an amazing range called Green Toys.

About Green Toys

The Green Toy range is made from 100% recycled materials! The toys are primarily created from recycled milk cartons, which I love as my boys drink gallons of milk. The plastic is collected, cleaned, shredded then reprocessed to create a fantastic range of toys that are built to last and inspire play with no batteries in site!

All the toys are packaged in 100% recycled cardboard with no unnecessary waste . The natural inks used on the packaging biograde 4 x faster than other more commonly used inks.

The range has something for everyone, it includes vehicles, play sets, construction and role play toys aswell as baby toys such as stacker and shape sorters.

The Play Test

Bigjigs Toys kindly sent Tommy the Green Toy aeroplane  to test out. It arrived beautifully packed in simple and as promised in 100% recyclable packaging. The plane felt sturdy and good quality. The bright red colouring was instantly appealing to Tommy and he reached out for it straight away. The plane is nice and chunky with working wheels and propeller. It's a good size for little for little hands to grasp and play with. Tommy is going through a throwing stage and this toy certainly proved to be robust. It survived bring thrown, bashed and dropped several times.

I really like the simplicity of this toy, the design is simple but yet eye catching. It perfect for inspiring young imaginations. It's the type of toy that a child will go back to play with time and time again for years to come. I've already got my eye on some of their other toys for Christmas presents, I think Tommy would love this Farm play set.

Am really pleased I was able to discover a toy brand that produces eco friendly, quality and beautifully designed toys, that engage and inspire imagination.

Disclaimer - This toy was gifted to us for the purpose of this post, however as always all opinions are my own.

Recaro Easylife Stroller Review

Since Tommy turned one in June I've been searching for a lightweight and easy fold stroller. I do love our Flip XT2 pushchair from Mamas and Papa's and still intend to use it for longer walks. However, now Tommy is bigger it can be quite heavy to push at times and although it's relatively compact when folded I do find it rather heavy to lift especially if your trying to juggle a wiggly baby at the same time.
I spent a good bit of time researching strollers, reading countless reviews and watch YouTube demo videos as I wanted something that would be practical for our needs and look good too. Eventuallylly I decided on the Recaro Easylife in the colour black, the usual RRP is £189.00 but I managed to get it on sale from www.naturalbabyshower.co.uk for £139.00.
First Impressions Setting up the Recaro Easylife was very simple, all I had to do was flip open the chassis and attach the front wheels. Then it was ready to go! The black frame and wheels gives the stroller a more pr…

Tips For Creating Instagram Flatlays

If you follow me on Instagram you will know am quite partial to posting a flatlay, I like how they mix up my grid and allow me to be a little creative. I find them really quick and easy to shoot and lighting is rarely an issue (natural lighting only). In no way I am claiming to be an expert but I have learnt a few tricks along.
Backdrop The backdrop is a key element of my flatlays. I tend to use two different textures layered together, this could be a white bedsheet and faux  fur blanket or wooden flooring and a throw.  I like to change the textures seasonally, in winter I favour faux furs and in summer lighter fabrics. I find using the same backdrop several times gives continuity to my feed and inkeeping with the tone.

Theme & Colour Pallet  Before creating a flatlay I always have rough idea in my head if how I want it to look or what I would like it to portray. The image also has to fit in with my current instagram grid colour pallet. For example when creating the image below …

Micralite FastFold Pushchair Review

We where estastic to have recently been  given the opportunity to try out the new Micralite FastFold Pushchair with our one year old Tommy.  It could not of come at a better time as for the pervious couple of months we had been switching between using  our bigger travel system and light weight stroller depending on the occasion. Ideally I wanted to have one pushchair that was just as efficient for city trips as it was for a bit of country off roading without comprising on comfort and the FastFold promised to do just that.
First Impressions  Assembling the FastFold was super easy, all I had to do was click on the rear wheels and attach the seat linner and it was ready to go! I thought the product had an overall good quality feel about it. It was sturdy, with large pneumatic tires but still compact in size. I loved the colours and design of the special "Festival" edition. The design is different to most pushchairs as the FastFold is wider at the front than it is at the rear.…
